It is an inclination of the British to overspend! It gives us a certain amount of assurance when we can just pull out a credit card and take care of that meal, the holiday we told ourselves we needed or the expensive Gucci suit our client would have been so unimpressed had we not been donning it so self-assuredly. The fact of the matter is that there are more credit cards than people in the UK and the debt that they continually mount are a large part of the 1400 billion personal debt held by individuals in this country.
